Around 200 people took part in a socially distanced demonstration held by the Black Lives Matter campaign in Cardiff. This turnout – which is fantastic in light of the pandemic and the rapid nature of the development of the protest movement around the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis – reflects a burning desire amongst working people all over the world to see radical change to the broken criminal justice system.
Speakers highlighted the need for people of all races to speak out against racial injustice and the need for a strong and diverse trade union movement was clearly recognised.
This, along with democratic workers control of the police and organisation of resources in society is the only way that all working class people can be free from the constraints of oppression and the despair of poverty.
